When I painted this dragonfly, I was drawn to its incredible journey—a life spent in motion. Dragonflies travel vast distances throughout their lives, constantly moving, mating on the road, and even raising their next generation while on the go. That nomadic spirit fascinated me—the idea of a creature that never truly settles but still finds ways to create and nurture life along the way.

I wanted the background to capture that restless energy, which is why I chose bold, high-energy oranges that feel like a sunset on fire. The warm, glowing hues give the impression of movement and transformation, a reminder that life is always shifting beneath our wings.

The dragonfly itself is a study of intricacy and design. I focused on capturing the delicate, almost otherworldly patterns in its wings—the fine veins and fragile structure that allow it to glide so effortlessly through the air. There’s a balance between strength and vulnerability in those wings, which feels symbolic of the dragonfly’s life on the road. Despite its constant motion, it remains graceful and resilient.
